Prior to the 2000 season, the Nascar Winston Cup Series circuit had 51 titles divided among 23 drivers.  Leading the way with 7 wins each are Richard Petty-(64,67,71,72,74,75,79) and Dale Earnhardt (80,86,87,90,91,93,94)

Other multiple winners are Lee Petty (54,58,59);  David Pearson (66,68,69); Cale Yarborough (76,77,78); Darrell Waltrip (81,82,85) and Jeff Gordon (95,97,98).

Two time winners before 1998 are Herb Thomas (51,53);  Tim Flock (52,55);  Buck Baker (56,57);  Ned Jarrett (61,65);  Joe Weatherly (62,63) and  Terry Labonte (84,96).
